EMS stands for ‘Electro Muscle Stimulation’. EMS has a long history of use in physical therapy and rehabilitation and has recently gained popularity as a fitness training method in Europe and other parts of the world.
EMS works by sending electrical impulses (via an EMS suit that the user wears) to muscles causing them to contract in the same way that they do from exercise.
EMS impulses mimic the impulses sent to muscles by the brain, but EMS impulses produce more efficient and complete muscle contractions than traditional exercise providing a great full-body workout in only 20 minutes.
What is EMS?
Achieve Faster Fitness Results
EMS training benefits people of all ages by both enhancing strength and promoting muscle growth and is accomplished in just two 20 minutes sessions per week.
Building and maintaining muscle mass is important for people of all ages, but is increasingly important later in life since muscle mass naturally declines with age. Decreased muscle mass can result in diminished strength, lower metabolism and decreased bone density. These factors can all increase the risk of injury and other health risks.
Strength Training
is Critical
At Embody EMS Fitness, we believe that EMS training is superior to conventional forms of exercise. To that end, we MINIMIZE the use of weights and other fitness accessories and let the EMS do the work. By minimizing the use of weights and accessories, we provide a fitness solution that produces fantastic results, is easy on joints and is accessible to individuals with injuries or other ailments. We tailor our workouts to each individual’s needs.
The Embody
EMS Difference
EMS training involves wearing a specially designed suit during the workout. The EMS suit sends low voltage electrical signals to stimulation pads covering all major muscle groups in the body.
Unlike a traditional workout where muscle contractions are confined to the muscles specifically engaged in a given exercise - in EMS training, ALL major muscle groups SIMULTANEOUSLY contract during EVERY stimulation. Furthermore, ALL MUSCLE FIBERS WITHIN EVERY MUSCLE GROUP contract during EVERY STIMULATION. The end result is that a 20 minute EMS workout is significantly more effective than a traditional strength or cardio training workout.
